No. 6 - "Why Not Me?"

 
 
Artist Statement: My Sitting Plenty figures embody self-love, body positivity, and anti-bullying. This is a diptych piece combined with "Why Me?" and "Why Not Me?" 
 
"Why Not Me?" — The figure is sitting tall and secure in the midst of the chaos, while the figure in "Why Me?" is sitting in a self-pity party. The mindset shifts from "why me?" to "why NOT me?" through the journey of surrender, self-discovery, and spiritual growth. Being rooted in faith allows you to withstand the storms of life. 
 
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:6-7 
 
 
The handwritten note on the edge of that canvas reads: "The only way to, is through." We have to go THROUGH the valleys to get to the mountains in life. But your attitude and posture in how you respond will determine your outcome. "Why me?" or "why NOT me?" What will your response be?
