No. 5 - "Why Me?"

 
 
Artist Statement: My Sitting Plenty figures embody self-love, body positivity, and anti-bullying. This is a diptych piece combined with "Why Me?" and "Why Not Me?" 
 
"Why Me?" — The figure is upset as there's a lot of chaos happening around her. Instead of doing something about it, she sits in her circumstances thinking, "why me?" and dwells with the balloon of her self-pity party. 
 
I often use seven tally marks in my artwork as a reminder of forgiveness. "Jesus answered, "I tell you, you must forgive him more than seven times. You must forgive him even if he wrongs you seventy times seven." - Matthew 18:22
